-like she needed anything else!
Yes, constant reader, I have become captive of yet another fiber art!
I'd like to introduce you to "Vicki", the newest member of my "fiber family"! I heart her SO much!
As you know, I made a foray into the spinning world with a top whorl drop spindle and actually made yarn! And I really enjoy it! However, it is slow going, due to the nature of my job. So, when I came across a recommendation for the Woolery in Jen's blog, (and my OT check came in) I ordered her! She is a Louet S-95 Victoria and is WONDERFUL! I stuck to Louet, since that is what I am learning on and am, in general, glad. I was up and spinning in a matter of MINUTES! And she has her own case, so I can take her with me! Whee!
And, lest any doubt that I am seriously doing anything....
The first picture ( of my first spindle) is closer to the true color. I took these in the pm, so the light wasn't great, but it seems to be the only time I can get to the camera!
I know this isn't great yarn, but I am getting better at it each time I sit down. Sometimes too much twist, sometimes too little, but thinner and much more consistant! Practice! Practice!
these are the InsideOut socks from BMFA's Rockin' Sock Club. I originally worked the cables as written, but, as many before me had already discovered, I would've had to grease my foot to get the damned things on! So...frog one leg and reknit in ribbing! Much, much better! Knit in STR "Monsoon".
I've also cast on "Rock and Weave" socks again, this time in the "Watermelon Tourmaline" colorway. Both cuffs done, and have turned the heel on the first sock. Pictures will follow!
If you havent heard of Ravelry yet...get yourselves over there! OMG, this is like the coolest thing EVER! I heart it! It is still in Beta, but they're signing up people as fast as they can! And people are joining in as fast as THEY can! Want to organize your knitting, stash, needles, etc? Ravelry! Want to see who's knitting what? Ravelry! Want to share techniques, comments, questions, info...? Ravelry! I have a feeling that we will all be there before long. Like the Borg....we will be ONE! They've put up a wonderful preview of the pages that they want to have going, which will give you some idea of how really cool it is! Check it out! You'll be suprised at the people already there! Oh, and it links to your blog! Too, too cool!
Hopefully, I'll have some more knitting going by next post (whenever that will be). Work still takes up a completely inordinate amount of my time, at least until July. But then, watch out!
